I Need Your Opinion: the lastname and the internet

I’m creating a new website for my photography, and any other “works” I end up creating, but I have a conundrum. I really do not want to use my real last name, for I fear it will become too hard to distinguish my pseudo name/persona from my actual, basically I feel like if it came down to copyright infringement or someone stealing one of my pictures how would I be able to claim that it’s mine? if I wasn’t even using my real name? The reason I don’t want to use my last name is purely for safety and security reasons, yeah I’m sure pretty much anyone can find you, fake name or not, but I don’t want to wave a flag so to speak.

This is why I need your opinion, is it okay to use a fake name for creative projects?
Am I being paranoid and I should just use my real name?

Explosions In The Sky – Your Hand In Mine

These guys are the soundtrack to my sleep schedule, if you ever want to just all out relax then these are the guys for you. There is something about clean telecaster guitar that just instantly soothes you. Also for any of you film buffs, you’ll notice that Danny Elfman basically completely ripped off this song with his entire original score for The Kingdom.

But hopefully it’s something I will be saying often come this September, because as of about 9am this morning my OSSD is all up to compliance with the programs I am looking to apply for. What’s fairly cool is that if I apply within the wee morning hours of 1am-7am up to the 29th of January, I will be entered into a draw for an iPod, like I need another iPod, but still pretty cool. (I think I may be one of the only people that takes the time to actually type iPod properly, so lame)

So I am looking to take Creative Advertising, but I’ve been looking at some studio photography programs as well, and like every kid that isn’t sure what they want to do in life, I’m going to throw in some extremely broad business program as a fall back 😉

Anywho wish me luck dudes and I’ll keep you posted on any progress.
